I have to say, Mr. Ickes seemed much more reasonable on Meet the Press than he did in the heat of the moment at the DNC rules committee meeting on Saturday. Still, he held the position that Hillary would have more popular votes than Obama. That is only true if you count the beauty contest in Michigan, where she was the only candidate. The other candidates respected the rules in Michigan, and Hillary sought a strategic advantage by staying on the ballot. She still only won a narrow majority, but Mr. Ickes wanted to claim all the delegates he could for Sen. Clinton and none for Mr. Obama. I think the Michigan compromise was a good one that will serve the state well in the long run. However, Hillary's supporters will not be satisfied unless they triumph.
